ENGLISH WINE WEEK

Join us for English Wine Week, a celebration of the vineyards and winemakers putting English wine on the map. We’ll be hosting a tour of Durslade Vineyards with an introduction to our grapes from our vineyard manager, followed by a delicious dinner at Da Costa with wines paired to complement each course.

The Evening

Explore the best of English wine, right here in Somerset. We’ll meet at Da Costa at 6pm before heading off on a tractor and trailer ride to Durslade Vineyards. There, you’ll get a closer look at the grapes we grow, learn about how we care for the vines and how we turn the grapes into our wines.

After the tour, we’ll head back to Da Costa for a three-course dinner, paired with a selection of English wines – including two made from our grapes.

Durslade Vineyards

On a gentle south-east-facing slope of our estate lies our vineyard, rooted in clay and limestone soil, which creates ideal conditions for growing over 13,000 vines. Located beside the River Brue and across from the site of an ancient Roman vine terrace, the setting is both naturally rich and historically significant.

We grow Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier, and Bacchus grapes, all hand-harvested in late September or early October. The grapes are then transported just five miles to Bagborough Winery, where they are pressed, fermented, and bottled.

Make a Weekend of It

English Wine Week is a lovely excuse to take your time in our corner of Somerset. Wander through the Hauser & Wirth gallery next door, pick up a bottle of Maid of Bruton at the Farm Shop, and let the day unfold before joining us at Da Costa for an evening celebrating English wine.

For those who like to explore a little further, the lanes around Durslade Farm lead out into open countryside. Bruton itself is a gentle stroll along the River Brue, where you’ll find pretty streets, a medieval packhorse bridge, and a climb up to the Dovecote rewarded with one of the finest views in Somerset.
