The Negroni’s origins trace back to 1919 at Caffè Casoni in Florence, where Count Camillo Negroni is said to have requested an Americano with the soda water replaced by gin. Among its most celebrated admirers was Orson Welles, who quipped: “The bitters are excellent for your liver, the gin is bad for you. They balance each other.”
The cocktail’s appeal has endured for over a century, inspiring variations along the way. In 2002, British mixologist Wayne Collins created the first recorded White Negroni, giving the classic a fresh, modern twist.
