Inspired by Italy’s Carnevale celebrations, on Wednesday 5th March we are serving a special menu celebrating the traditional Italian dishes served during this period, made with local ingredients.

Olt da Riva

In Rivamonte Agordino, the traditional event during the Carnevale period is known as Olt da Riva. During the week of celebrations, village residents wear traditional wooden masks. Historically these were inspired by horror, called “Òlt de la Spia”, crafted by Crispino Selle who lived in the La Spia hamlet. But over the years the masks have transformed into faces inspired by happiness and laughter, known as “Òlt da Riva”.
